Publications Coordinator Transparency International (TI)

Transparency International (TI) is the global civil society organisation leading the fight against corruption. Through more than 90 chapters worldwide and an international secretariat in Berlin, Germany, TI raises awareness of the damaging effects of corruption and works with partners in government, business and civil society to develop and implement effective measures to tackle it.

TI’s Communications Department is responsible for conceptualising and producing internal and external communications strategies and materials for global reach along with tailored communications tools for regional and thematic programmes.

Departmental work areas include: event management, issues and crisis management, marketing, media and public relations, multimedia, print and online publications, social media as well as web design and production.

Job Description

Main function: Responsible for supporting the production of publications, TI’s Annual Report and human interest stories.

Reporting lines: Communications Director

Contract: Two-year contract, with possibility of extension

Starting date: As soon as possible, to be negotiated

Location: Berlin, Germany; with possible international travel

Job grade: Programme Coordinator

Key responsibilities:

The position will support the work of TI’s Publications team, which is responsible for managing the professional production of a high number of reports and printed materials, often to tight deadlines. This would involve:

  • Maintain the TI Publications Calendar, liaising cross departmentally and ensuring a carefully planned production schedule.
  • Oversee the collection of information and drafting of TI’s Annual Report
  • Organise the scheduling of Editorial Committee meetings and ensure follow up. The committee is tasked with reviewing new reports before publication and providing editorial feedback.
  • Contribute to drafting and editing of written materials for print and online, with a focus on human interest stories.
  • Handle external requests for the reproduction of TI materials.
  • Coordinate the work of external editors to ensure timely and professional standards are maintained.

Knowledge, experience and skills:

  • University degree (or equivalent relevant experience) in Communications, Journalism, English Language, or similar.
  • Excellent oral and written communications in English; fluency in Spanish would be a distinct advantage.
  • Familiarity with the production of print and online publications.
  • Exemplary organisational skills and ability to multi-task under pressure.
  • Excellent writing and editing skills, with a thorough eye for detail and a creative approach to communications.
  • Knowledge of and interest in corruption, governance and development issues.
  • Dynamic self starter; highly motivated, comfortable in taking initiative and able to work with minimum supervision.
  • Familiarity with Adobe InDesign and Photoshop programmes desirable.
  • Ability to perform as part of a team.
  • Dependable and highly articulate.

TI Secretariat reserves the right to appoint to another staff level subject to education and qualifications.
