The European Society of Anaesthesiology is an international Non-for-profit Association, which represents all practising anaesthesiologists in Europe. The ESA has a wide portfolio of activities, which include running major annual meetings, liaising with and representing the national anaesthesiology societies in Europe, publishing the European Journal in Anaesthesiology, organising courses, performing accreditations and contributing to the running of multilingual training and assessment programmes including the European Diploma in Anaesthesiology and Intensive Care. The Society actively promotes education and research through competitions, grants and fellowship programmes.

We are looking for:

Scientific & Educational Administrator to support congress organisation and educational activities of the association.

The function does not require a scientific background but good skills and experience in organisation, administration and logistics.

Job Function:

Together with a colleague, you will administer the Scientific Department of the association (50% time) by offering secretarial support to the Scientific Committee. You main task will be to set-up the scientific programme of the annual congress (liaison with the Scientific Committee, speakers, abstract presenters and refresher course lecturers). You will be in charge of the invitations, registrations, follow-up, etc.

You will also offer adminstrative support and coordinate some activities of the Educational Department like the organisation of courses, examinations, grants programme, etc. (50% time). You will be responsible for certain projects depending on your experience.

Your profile:

  • Fluent in spoken and written English and a good knowledge of a second (Dutch/French) or third European language;
  • Mature with minimum 4 years working experience in organisation and administration;
  • A strong affinity with IT, with superb MS Office skills;
  • Highly organised multi-tasker able to work in a team environment as well as autonomously;
  • Accurate with an eye for details;
  • Flexible, you understand the importance of and respect deadlines;
  • Diplomatic with excellent communication skills.
