The international Corporate Communications practice at Weber Shandwick Brussels has an exciting opportunity for an Account Manager to join our fast-growing team. The person we are looking for will be working for an interesting and diverse mix of companies and non-profit organizations. His or her role will include managing the day-to-day activities of the account team, recommending programs and activities in line with client's goals, coaching junior team members and assisting with new business development.

Job description:

  • Take client briefs and develop strategic communications programs;
  • Manage select client relationships, overseeing day-to-day client projects and assuming responsibility for the delivery of projects, services and reporting;
  • Contribute to new business development opportunities and client campaign proposals;
  • Coach junior team members;
  • Develop media materials and other content;
  • Handle media inquiries, make strategic media recommendations and persuasively engage media at the highest level;
  • Take appropriate responsibility for quality control of client work produced by team.

Professional Requirements:

  • An advanced degree in communications, journalism, public policy, international relations, or a related field strongly preferred;
  • A minimum of 3 to 5 years of work experience, as consultant in a public relations agency (in Brussels or London) or equivalent in an in-house strategic communications role. Agency experience is a must;
  • Experience in working with Brussels-based media; knowledge of broader European media is a bonus;
  • Excellent writing skills and experience in positions that required writing and editing of messages, reports, articles, briefings, speeches, and other materials;
  • Sublime project management skills;
  • Ability to work independently and within a team;
  • Ability to develop in-depth understanding of clients' industries and issues;
  • Ability to manage numerous projects simultaneously;
  • Proven aptitude in problem-solving and making critical decisions;
  • Excellent English (native speaker or equivalent); fluency in any additional European languages, in particular French and Spanish is a distinct advantage;
  • Experience with online and visual communications a plus;
  • Must be eligible for full residence and working rights in Belgium.
