Director of policy and public affairs

Poverty is an outrage against humanity. It robs people of dignity, freedom and hope, of power over their own lives.

Christian Aid believes poverty can be ended and that, to do so, unequal power relations need to be challenged and changed. Christian Aid supports local organisations in 45 developing countries around the world, working on effective responses to poverty. Equally, just and pro-poor policy frameworks are essential to ending poverty.

Christian Aid is now seeking to appoint to the newly created role of Director of Policy and Public Affairs. Sitting at the Directorate and reporting to the Director, the post holder will be responsible for ensuring Christian Aid effectively uses policy and advocacy to bring about its vision of ending world poverty, and to coordinate the broad framework for influencing different audiences across civil society, governments and businesses.

The successful candidate will bring exceptional experience in development policy work, an in-depth understanding of the political context in which development policy decisions are made and the profile and personal gravitas to represent Christian Aid at the highest levels externally. As a member of the Directorate at Christian Aid the post holder must be confident in a theology of justice and be personally motivated by their faith to engage social issues impacting the world’s poor.
