Purpose

The purpose of the post is to assist the Principal Technical Officer in the workshop to deliver service to the academic department as well as assist with some cleaning duties and with field work.

Requirements

The job incumbent is required to have Grade 9 plus 1 year’s relevant experience with an ability to read, write and speak English

OR

Grade 8 with the ability to read, write and speak English at the Grade 9/ ABET level 1-4/NQF level 1 based on previous work experience plus 1 years relevant experience.

Relevant experience includes:

Previous experience in working in a workshop and/or the mechanical aptitude (will be tested at the time of the interview).Previous welding and woodwork experience will be an advantagePrevious cleaning experienceMust be in possession of a valid driver’s licence and be prepared to obtain a PDP licence-the Institution will cover the cost of obtaining the PDP licence. The obtaining of a PDP licence is a job requirement and as such will form part of the probation period. Failure to obtain a PDP licence during probation period could result in the termination of employment.
