Officer “Nutrition Policies” (temporary replacement) EDA

EDA, the European Dairy Association (1), is looking for an Officer “Nutrition Policies” as temporary 7 to 8-month replacement starting on 14 May 2012. She/he will be responsible for an adequate follow-up of developments at EU and international levels, informing EDA members of these developments, developing draft positions and lobbying on EDA’s behalf the appropriate institutions and other relevant stakeholders in the areas of nutrition, diet and health, claims and food/nutrition labelling.

The Officer “Nutrition Policies” will work in the department Food, Nutrition and Environmental Policies and Legislation (that covers areas such as food safety, hygiene, additives, food labelling, nutrition and environment) and ensure - together with the Senior Officer “Food Policies and Legislation” - an adequate coordination of all activities in the department and effective participation in the work of EDA’s members through the relevant Committees and Working Groups. The Officer “Nutrition Policies” will report to the Secretary General of EDA.

We seek an ambitious, flexible and dynamic team player, with a background/degree in nutrition/food science or EU food law. Experience in the field of food law or nutrition, respectively, is desirable. Understanding the interface between the EU authorities and the food business is an asset. As a major aspect of this function consists of contacts with EDA’s members, with representatives of various EU authorities and other relevant stakeholders, good oral and written communication skills are essential. The working language within the Association and in EDA’s office is English; sound knowledge of French and/or German would be advantageous.

Monthly salary will depend on formation and experience. Additional compensation such as travel cost reimbursement and meal vouchers will be provided.
