Introduction

Save the Children works in more than 120 countries. We save children’s lives. We fight for their rights. We help them fulfil their potential.

In the last few years we’ve increased our impact, saving more lives through our programmes and campaigning for even wider change. And we have very ambitious plans for the years ahead. Our mission is to help save 15 million children’s lives over the next 5 years. Advocacy and Policy are fundamental to our global strategy, through our No Child Born to Die/EVERY ONE campaign we’re seeking to make immediate and lasting change for children.

Based in Brussels, the Senior Advocacy Adviser will help us to catalyse an intensified effort to save 15 million lives (14 million children and 1 million women) by 2015 by helping to create an environment in which political decision-making and action facilitates/accelerates access to key health and nutrition services.

The Senior Advocacy Adviser will act as a credible and influential force for change, helping to shape our advocacy and work in Brussels, and being a visible and respected external voice for Save the Children. You will have a proven track record in advocacy success, as well as a proven ability to build relationships with and influence policy makers, politicians and other key actors. You will also have a strong understanding of EU institutions and the Brussels development policymaking processes, and a demonstrable ability to manage multiple demands and work within complex structures.

Please note that applications will be reviewed and candidates may be contacted prior to the closing date.

This post will be based in Brussels and you will need to have the right to live and work there. Occasional travel may be required.
