Senior Associate Scientist - Extension and Knowledge Management Coordination

The functions of the position are to (1) assist in the establishment and operations of the Philippine RKB, (2) coordinate, provide logistical support to and participate in RKB training in the Philippines, (3) coordinate, conduct evaluation of RKB use and impact in the Philippines, (4) support IRRI scientists in content development, (5) maintain up-to-date links with national RKBs to facilitate contenct sharing, (6) communicate with IRRI scientists and national RKB officers to communicate changes to the IRRI RKB.

Major accountabilities/Responsibilities

1. Assist operations of the Philippines RKB
• Coordinate all RKB work plans and programs
• Participate in content development
• Participate in the design and delivery of RKB training across the Philippines
• Monitor involvement in development and use by NGOs, universities and private sector
• Facilitate IRRI staff activities and other resource inputs to the Philippine RKB
• Facilitate the management, implementation and evaluation of RKB activity

2. Facilitate coordination between IRRI RKB and national activity
• Maintain effective, on-going contact with CSISA and South Asia hubs RKBs
• Maintain an up-to-date inventory of RKB contributors at IRRI
• Maintain an up-to-date status report of all sections of IRRI RKB
• Maintain effective communication on RKB developments across all RKBs

3. Courseware and training development and delivery
• Assist with manuscripts and audio-visual scripts for software development
• Define courses for RKB use and assist in course delivery
• Coordinate with resource persons to provide advice on RKB content

Qualification requirements
• MSc in an appropriate field or equivalent research and management experience
• Work experience in management and applied research in an agricultural setting for not less than 10 years
• English: Written and spoken; knowledge of local language and culture
