SUMMARY
RIM's Product Development Center in San Diego is comprised of a team of world class engineers that are focused on solving the world's toughest wireless challenges.
We are looking for passionate individuals who are excited about designing next generation radio features. The successful candidate will work on integrating the radio protocol stack software for standardized wireless technologies, particularly LTE/UMTS/GSM/GPRS/EDGE.
You will be responsible for investigating and resolving integration and performance related issues within the radio software stack. Your broad understanding of the cellular radio protocols stack, signal processing, interaction between physical layer and upper layers (L2, L3) will be the key to your success.

Qualifications

ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical, Software Systems Engineering or equivalent
  • 8 years experience with wireless networks, signal processing,
  • Solid understanding the physical layer and upper layers (L2, L3)
  • Exposure to embedded debuggers and system profiling tools
  • Strong understanding of wireless technologies (LTE/HSDPA/HSUPA/WCDMA, GSM/GPRS/EDGE, 802.11)
  • Working experience in wireless system and in-depth knowledge of specific wireless standards specifications such as 3GPP (cdma2000 1x/1xEVDO), 3GPP2 (GSM/EDGE/HSPA/LTE)
  • 5 years development experience of 3GPP/3GPP2-based radio stack including layer 1 and RF is highly preferred
  • Overall understanding of system architecture, requirement analysis, high level design, implementation and testing
  • Worked in full life cycle system environments support across business units
  • Previous performance benchmarking experience
ADDITIONAL ASSETS
  • Experience in low-level programming and hardware level debugging
  • Real-time OS firmware development environment and debugging on multi-processor hardware architectures
  • Knowledge of DSP algorithms and architectures
  • Understanding of RF hardware programming, analog/digital hardware, radio components in RF chain and associated control loop algorithms (AFC,AGC,APC) is plus
  • Physical layer APIs, device drivers and knowledge of wireless baseband
  • Experience in field testing and certification testing of wireless device is an asset
  • Previous experience mentoring junior developers
  • Post Graduate degree in Computer Science/Electrical/Systems Engineering
