WRITER PORT-AU-PRINCE, HAITI

CARE is seeking an experienced Writer for their Program Quality Enhancement Team to assist team members and program staff by writing sections and/or editing press releases, internal documents, concept notes, proposals, and reports to donors and other stakeholders. Excellent writing and verbal skills are mandatory as well as a keen interest in CARE’s emergency and development work and commitment to quality data and information.
CARE's work in Haiti reflects an integrated approach, with projects in HIV/AIDS, reproductive health, maternal and child health, education, food security, and water and sanitation. CARE works closely with local NGOs, private companies, community organizations and the Haitian government to build local capacity and achieve sustainable development.

Required Skills
· Ability to work independently and as a team player with local and international staff.
· Well developed English and French written and oral communication skills. Able to communicate clearly and sensitively with internal and external stakeholders as a representative of CARE.
· Works with trustworthiness and integrity and has a clear commitment to CARE's core values and humanitarian principles.
· Ability to operate effectively under extreme circumstances including stress, high security risks and harsh living conditions. Works and lives with a flexible, adaptable and resilient manner.
· Demonstrates awareness and sensitivity to gender and diversity. Have experience and the ability to live and work in diverse cultural contexts in a culturally appropriate manner. Has a capacity to make accurate self-assessment particularly in high stress and high security contexts.

· Knowledge of CARE policies and procedures, Sphere and the Red Cross/ NGO Code of Conduct.
· Proficiency in information technology/ computer skills.
· Capacity to work on a multi-sector team, including incorporating technical input into proposals
· International experience, preferably with humanitarian aid experience with communications, proposal development and or reporting.
· Ability to work rapidly with staff on in the field directly and HQ staff remotely in writing and where necessary revising proposals.
· Familiarity with requirements of key humanitarian donors and capacity to work in a multi-donor environment, including EURONAID, DFID, ECHO, OFDA, AUSAID, USAID and CIDA.
