The Court of Justice of the European Union in Luxembourg is seeking an Assistant (Grade AST 1) for its Press and Information Unit.

NATURE OF THE DUTIES

Working closely with an administrator in the English section of the Unit, the successful candidate will be required to reply to queries concerning the work of the Court. This will involve carrying out research, following court cases and sending documents. As part of the public face of the Court, there will be much contact with the media, the legal community and the general public.

Searching for, analysing and indexing articles for the Court’s Press Review will also form a substantial part of the work.

The successful candidate will be very organised, flexible and reliable with a desire to work in a multilingual environment. An interest in, and knowledge of, current affairs and the media sector in one of the EU countries covered by the section (United Kingdom, Ireland, Malta) is desirable as is a sense of innovation and good knowledge of new media, in particular social media.

QUALIFICATIONS OR DIPLOMAS REQUIRED

A level of post-secondary education attested by a diploma or a level of secondary education attested by a diploma giving access to post-secondary education, and appropriate professional experience of at least three years.

LINGUISTIC KNOWLEDGE

A perfect command of English is required as well as good knowledge of another official language of the EU. Knowledge of Irish or Maltese would be an advantage. For reasons relating to the service, a working knowledge of French would be desirable.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT

The successful candidate will be offered a one year renewable temporary contract. The maximum term of employment as a temporary agent is six years.
