LECTURER IN EDUCATION (TEACHING OF SCIENCE-BIOLOGY)
QUALIFICATIONS
PhD in Science Education with at least undergraduate qualifications in Life Sciences or PhD Biology with postgraduate qualifications in Science Education
EXPERIENCE
· Experience in preparing teachers for the primary and/or secondary levels of the education system.
· Significant experience in the teaching of Biology/Integrated science at the secondary level
· Experience in the supervision of graduate students' research for higher degrees
· Experience in the design and delivery of online courses
· Experience in delivery of Research Methods in Education would be an asset.
· Competence in the use of software for the analysis of qualitative data would be an asset
SPECIAL EXPERTISE
The successful applicant will be expected to function in a range of teacher education programmes often based on an inter-disciplinary, team teaching approach with the goal of improving the competence of teachers in delivering science curricula at the primary and/or secondary levels.
SPECIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
The successful applicant will be required to design and develop and teach courses in any of the following programmes: The Bachelor of Education, the Postgraduate Diploma in Education and the Masters in Education. He/she will also be expected to supervise graduate research and conduct research aimed at improving the quality of science teaching.
