Duties: The successful candidate will be expected to (i) teach diploma and undergraduate courses in Mineral Engineering / Processing or Extractive Metallurgy (ii) conduct and produce results of scholarly work, actively involving students at Diploma and B. Eng. Degree levels (iii) perform administrative and other duties as may be assigned by the Head of Department. Requirements: Associate Professor: All candidates must have (i) a Masters plus a Bachelors degree in Mineral Engineering with specialization in Mineral Processing or Extractive Metallurgy obtained from a recognized university with a second class, first division (2.1) or GPA of at least 3.6, a PhD in Mineral Engineering is an added advantage (ii) at least 5 years of teaching experience at a University level or comparable institution (iii) cumulative and sustained record of good research and publications in areas relevant to Mineral Engineering (iv) at least 12 publications, 8 of which are peer reviewed journal papers on the teaching of the discipline (v) lead and/or single authored in at least 6 refereed journal articles or book chapters (vi) evidence of academic leadership (vii) evidence of service to the university, the profession and the community (viii) the ability to attract funding from international sources is an added advantage. Senior Lecturer: All candidates must have (i) a Masters plus a Bachelors degree in Mineral Engineering with specialization in Mineral Processing or Extractive Metallurgy obtained from a recognized university with a second class, first division (2.1) or GPA of at least 3.6, a PhD in Mineral Engineering is an added advantage (ii) at least 3 years of teaching experience at a University level or comparable institution (iii) cumulative and sustained record of good research and publications in areas relevant to Mineral Engineering (iv) at least 6 publications, 4 of which are peer reviewed journal papers on the teaching of the discipline (v) lead and/or single authored in at least 2 refereed journal articles or book chapters (vi) evidence of service to the university, the profession and the community. (vii) evidence of academic leadership will be added advantage Lecturer: Candidates must have a Masters in Mineral Engineering with specialization in Mineral Processing or Extractive Metallurgy obtained from a recognized university, a PhD in Mineral Engineering is an added advantage. Preference will be given to applicants with teaching experience at a university level in more than one area of the following: Extractive Metallurgy, Process Mineralogy, Flotation, Coal Preparation, Materials Characterisation, Computers in Mineral Processing and a good research and publication record in areas relevant to Mineral Engineering.
