Applications are invited for a Lecturer in Signal Processing (fixed-term for 2.5 years). It is expected that the successful candidate would be able to commence duties in June/July 2012. The position arises because of a permanent academic staff member who has received support for research for the fixed-term period. High quality candidates in related areas such as communications who have experience in signal processing will also be considered.

Appointment at the Lecturer range (comparable to Assistant Professor in the US system) will be at a level depending on the qualifications and experience of the appointee. Candidates should have a relevant PhD degree or equivalent, and have a proven research and/or industrial achievement record to be eligible for consideration. Duties include teaching (undergraduate and postgraduate), research, assisting with the supervision of research students and administration.

The Department has 22 academic staff, approximately 260 undergraduate students and 65 postgraduate students, undertakes world class research, and has excellent facilities. The Department specialises in electric power engineering, nanotechnology, signal and image processing, control, communications, mechatronics, and computer engineering. The Department is also associated with the MacDiarmid Institute for Advanced Materials and Nanotechnology and the Electric Power Engineering Centre.
