The successful candidate shall provide expertise in performing laboratory and field work related to natural resource management and in handling data management, graphical analysis, and documentation for the research work.



Duties

  • Analyze soil from ongoing field experiments for changes in nitrogen mineralization, soil organic C and N, and the different fractions of nitrogen and carbon.
  • Execute sampling and processing of soil for archiving, extractable N determination, and bulk density measurements in ongoing field experiments.
  • Conduct soil extractions and subsequent analyses for available ammonium and nitrate of soil extracts from ongoing field experiments.
  • Assist in collection of data form ongoing experiments and in the management of data files and documentation from collected and processed samples
  • Oversee general maintenance and housekeeping of the Solis Laboratory in coordination with the Lab-in-charge
  • Carry out laboratory quality control and development of methods for soil analysis
  • Perform all other related duties that may be assigned from time to time by the supervising IRS.

Qualification requirements:


  • BS in Chemistry or related field
  • 2 years of relevant experience
  • Proficiency in MS Office applications, particularly Excel, Word and Powerpoint; excellent laboratory analytical skills, good working knowledge of data automation and barcoding.
  • High degree of self motivation; highly responsible; ability to communicate clearly in written and spoken English; and ability to work with others from diverse cultures
