| To manage the operations and project implementations of prepaid services & systems in the Vodacom South Africa and Vodacom Lesotho network. To manage the operations and project implementations of blades and storage infrastructure in the Vodacom South Africa network. MANAGE DEPARTMENT: Time Management Service Desk Management Resource Availability Planning for Support and Project Implementation Implement and Maintain Operational Procedures and Policies Provide mentorship and guidance to department Provide technical and managerial support to department Vendor Management – NSN, BCX, Shoden, MasterPower, FSC, IBM, Huawei, Alcatel Lucent Staff requisition – identification of need for additional staff to manage increased department responsibilities Management of Department Training Requirements Department Budget Planning Management of department during Divisional and Department Re-structure Mapping of staff to functions and responsibilities of department Department resource management for project testing and implementation Management of staff and distribution of work responsibilities to handle Operations & Maintenance, Projects, Tariffs and Products & Services. MANAGE PROCESSES: Incident Handling Emergency Handling Standby Reporting and handover Prepaid Tariff Requests Statistical and departmental reporting on systems, services and people Job Order Preparation General operational support Rewards and Incentives Tariff change verification Service desk call handling and trouble ticket management Refined Change Management within IN, Blades & Storage environment, in compliance with company change management Site inspections Implement learning schedules and processes for training of GPFT/Interns/Discover program individuals within IN environment MANAGE PROJECTS: Change Management Risk evaluation of projects Rollout Strategy Operational Considerations during Project Implementations Operational prioritization over Project implementations Staff Availability Planning for Project Implementation Management of Staff Training Requirements for Project involvement Quality Assurance during projects Billing and Revenue Assurance consideration during projects Alerting/Reporting to Senior Management of risks associated with projects Business Impact Analysis of Projects on new and existing services Overtime planning and forecasting for project implementation Estimate effort and communicate accordingly to necessary role players and stake holders for project testing and implementation. MANAGE HIGH-LEVEL SUPPORT: Provide department with procedures to improve support efficiency and turnaround times Scrutinize vendor feedback on open trouble tickets to determine root cause analysis Request implementation of improved housekeeping rules and checks in order to be pro-active to system/service problems Provide technical and managerial support to engineers during fault investigations Problem escalations internally to Senior Management and externally to Vendors. Manage emergencies in network until service is restored, and follow up on root cause analysis Ensure efficient mechanisms for Alarming and Monitoring is in place Ensure 24x7 support available Ensure workload fairly distributed amongst engineers Ensure sufficient and appropriately skilled resources available to provide required levels of support Ensure system and service availability according to company targets Continuously evaluate and maintain procedures and policies to stay relevant and updated as technology and environment changes. Provide mentorship and guidance to engineers. COMPILE REPORTS & DOCUMENTATION: Compile reports to senior management when system/service disruption occurs, providing details of events, root cause analysis and preventative measures Compile reports to senior management when evaluating new vendors and technologies Compile reports to senior management on fault escalations and poor quality of service received from internal or external suppliers Compile reports to senior management on challenges and recommendations Compile audit report response after audit findings presented Compile presentations/documentation of the INTelecoms department to capture: o Staff Overview o System and Services o Methodologies of resource mapping to departmental functions and responsibilities o Challenges and recommendations CONDUCT RESEARCH & EVALUATE NEW TECHNOLOGY: Conduct research on increase in traffic due to promotions, events, subscriber behavior, etc, Conducted research into technical queries and faults to assist engineers in finding solutions Conduct research in order to forecast overtime for planned projects and support activities Conduct research to evaluate best vendor to provide Managed Services on Blades and Storage Infrastructure Conduct research on different IN architecture to determine best model for Vodacom prepaid and postpaid business. Conduct research on performance of GPFT/Discover/Intern candidates in order to feedback to HR Conduct research and provide feedback to senior management about challenges encountered within Vodacom environment. Conduct research with staff and HR about division and department re-structures/changes in order to promote fair and justified decisions for both employees whilst meeting business requirements. Conduct research into business impact analysis on new and existing services based on implementation of promos Conduct research into risks and impact of projects that caused system/service disruption and provided recommendations to senior management. | |
