Medical Officer - Right To Care

Right to Care is a Johannesburg-based non-profit (Section 21) company, funded by USAID with a vision that all HIV-positive patients receive high quality treatment, care and support - improving their quality of life and productivity. Medical Male Circumcision: Medical Officer
Themba Lethu Clinic

Duties: Reporting on a dual basis to both the MMC Programme Manager and Operations Manager, the incumbent will:

  • Attend and successfully complete training on male circumcision service provision and counselling
  • Safely provide high-quality circumcision services to clients
  • Work with nurses and other clinical staff to ensure high-quality counselling is provided to clients
  • Assist in future training
  • Participate in quality assurance visits and be responsive to evaluator concerns
  • Ensure maintenance of supply log and equipment checklist at site
  • Ensure patient information is accurately collected and maintained in accordance
  • with monitoring and evaluation guidelines
  • Compile reports and documentation relating to the project
  • As needed, provide clinical direction and set-up support for new/satellite circumcision sites.

Requirements:

  • An MBCHB qualification
  • Registration with HPCSA
  • A postgraduate qualification in either of the following will be an added advantage: HIV/AIDS-, TB- or STI-related field of study
  • 3 years’ experience in Public Health
  • 2 years’ management experience
  • Prior management experience in a clinical setting
  • Prior experience in training clinical staff and working with NGOs
  • Knowledge of male circumcision and surgical techniques preferred
  • The ability to take initiative, plan and monitor activity flow and outcomes
  • The ability to analyse, interpret and solve difficult problems
  • The ability to work under pressure in achieving set-up goals/objectives
  • Fluency in English.
