The Program Chair in Sharjah Colleges will manage the operation of Applied Communication courses in the Degree programs at the Higher Colleges of Technology. S/he ensures the instructional activities of the Applied Communication Department to enable students to achieve the performance objectives of their courses. The Program Chair also ensures the effective provision, development and operation of the Applied Communication facilities to support the academic programs of the College while contributing actively to the College Management Team in order to develop as well as maintain strong partnerships with the profession, the community and the HCT campuses.
Requirements:
• Masters degree in a relevant discipline is required
• PhD in a relevant discipline is advantageous
• Significant years of leadership experience in coordinating teachers and curriculum
• Proven academic leadership including the development of programs and curricula in Applied Communications
• Experience in the management of staff and students as well as extensive teaching and learning experience at the post-secondary level
• Professional experience in budget planning and implementation
• Extensive experience in a program specialty area (e.g. media, journalism, graphic design, interior design or animation)
• Practical working experience in computers and related software and technology, with specific knowledge in media-related technology
• Experience in curriculum management/development.
• Relevant industry experience
• Relevant years of teaching experience within a classroom setting, preferably with further teaching experience teaching at a tertiary level
• Overseas cross-cultural experience is an advantage
