ACCOUNTANT - DONOR AUDIT CO-ORDINATOR, DUBLIN

General Description of the Role
The function of this position is to facilitate efficient and effective independent audits of GOAL’s grant funded programmes.

GOAL receives approximately 80% of its annual funding from institutional donors. Typically these would be the Foreign Aid departments of various governments, for example Irish Aid, USAID, DfID (UK), the European Union and ECHO (European Commission). GOAL’s use of this grant funding is subject to audit by these bodies.

Responsibilities
• Work closely with GOAL Head Office Finance team in the scheduling and facilitation of up-coming donor audits and organisational capacity/partner assessments
• Ensure that the documentation and information requirements of the auditors are fully understood by the field financial controllers, and the relevant head office staff
• Co-ordinate the flow of information between GOAL Head Office, GOAL field offices, and the auditors
• Review for accuracy, relevance and completeness all financial and supplementary information received from the fields prior to passing it on to the auditors
• Preparation of donor specific documentation required for the audit process, for example Fund Accountability Statements for the USAID audit and calculation of indirect cost rates
• In conjunction with the Operations and Finance departments ensure head office information and documentation for each grant is properly filed, easily accessible, and complete
• Ensure the audit preparation proceeds in line with the timetable, highlighting any exceptions, bottlenecks, and resource gaps asap
• Work closely with the roving Donor Compliance Officer based in Head office on all matters of compliance pertaining to the audit
• Undertake field trips where required and in co-ordination with the CFO
• Provide regular progress reports to the CFO

Requirements
Minimum experience: 3+ years post qualification
• Both audit and management accounting experience
• Computer literacy, including proficiency in Microsoft Excel. Experience with accounting packages, preferably SAGE
• Very strong communication and organisational skills, ability to determine priorities and methodical approach
• Thoroughness and attention to detail are pre-requisites for the role
• Ability to work with people from multi-disciplinary departments and finance/non-finance backgrounds in a multi-cultural environment
• Ability to work on own initiative, multi-task, plan and prioritise workload
• Strong team player
• Outgoing personality with excellent communication skills and training.
