The successful candidate will facilitate data collection, management and analysis of varietal performance of entries in the Multi-environment Rice Varietal Testing (MET). He/She will serve as the overall documenter of all information related to MET activities and facilitate information exchange among MET collaborators thru INGER website.



Duties

• Prepare documents and materials for seed preparation, assist in composition and seed dispatch of MET trials

- Coordinate with cooperators regarding MET entry nominations every season;
- Assemble preliminary seed list of MET Stages 1 and 2;
- Consolidate and generate final seed list of MET Stages 1 and 2;
- Prepare, update and compile protocol for MET field book;
- Provide randomization, layout and workbooks needed for the MET field book;
- Supervise technician/s on generating barcoded labels useful for seed dispatch and plot labels;
- Compile materials needed for MET fieldbook and provide electronic copies ready to download in the INGER website.
• Collect, consolidate and validate NET agronomic data and related environment factors or characteristics
- Prepare data templates and mobile data collector needed for barcoded data collection;
- Implement, manage and train staff on the use application tools for mobile data collection;
- Supervise technician/s on collecting, downloading and consolidating raw agronomic data from mobile device to ICIS-ready data templates;
- Check and validate the correctness of data types, as well as forms and applications used in data uploading into the system;
- Collaborate with Climate Unit on consolidating and summarizing weather data provided at different MET sites

• Performs statistical analysis on MET data in collaboration with CRIL and write seasonal reports to be deployed results online
- Retrieval and generation of appropriate data and information for MET reports;
- Analysis of yield and wield components for ecosystem INGER nurseries collected and descriptive (frequency) analysis on stress-oriented nurseries;
- Provide statistical analysis like combined analysis of variance for mixed models, genotype x environment interactions and varietal adaptability on INGER trail and MET results;
- Develop a procedure for displaying results of INGER nurseries and MET via INGER website eventually in real-time.
• Collaborate with other units (CRIL, Seed Health Unit, GRC, PBGB) and external collaborators of MET, including developing a community of a practice within the institute on electronic data collection and related tools (15\%)
• Assist in the preparation of agreements for the follow-up data submission from external collaborators of the MET in the Philippines and other countries
• Perform other duties assigned by the supervisor from time to time

Qualification requirements
• BS Degree in Computer Science, Statistics, or related disciple
• At least two (2) years experience in the database management, systems and statistical analysis for experimental designs
• Knowledge of experimental designs and statistical analysis for multi-location trials
• Knowledge of web administration – content management and web systems networking
• Above-average computer literacy; familiarity with the relevant software and application (SAS, GenStat, R and MS Access)
• Ability to perform assigned tasks with minimum supervision
• Writing skills
