INTERPOL is now looking for several qualified candidates as Coordinator within the Criminal Data Processing Sub-Directorate in charge of data processing, quality control and compliance of all entered data; enhancement, development and management of INTERPOL’s databases and services such as I-link, as well as support to any activities linked to the processing of police information within the Organization. The Coordinator is in charge, under the supervision of his Assistant Director, of coordinating the specialized daily and ad hoc projects, working group/conferences, and any other file/activity pertaining to the relevant area of the Sub-Directorate. The incumbent is also in charge of supervising Unit/Branch staff working in this area, of providing them with daily guidance, of ensuring the proper implementation of the policies and hierarchical decisions, and of the quality and timeliness of the produced deliverables, in compliance with the Organization’s priorities. The incumbent is the Organization’s central point of contact in the police area at stake, and is expected to provide advice to his Assistant Director and his hierarchy regarding the further development of the area, including preparing written analytical/operational studies, status reports, oral presentations/speeches to be delivered during outside conferences, internal/developmental training needs assessments, and any other relevant pro-active issue pertaining to the area. The incumbent can be called, upon request, to represent the Organization on the coordinated subject matter, and to replace the Assistant Director in the absence of the latter. Primary Duties 1) In compliance with the Organization’s priorities, management decisions and relevant policies/rules, the incumbent is responsible for implementing and coordinating all daily and ad hoc tasks pertaining to the relevant area. 2) The incumbent is in charge of supervising the staff members assigned to the unit/branch. 3) The incumbent is expected to provide pro-active guidance and sound analytical studies, for his hierarchy’s decision, in order to continuously develop the area at stake. 4) The incumbent is the central point of contact, both from inside or outside the Organization, with respect to the police area at stake, and can be called upon to represent the Organization in that perspective. 5) The incumbent, as the/one of the senior staff member(s) of the Sub-Directorate, will be regularly expected to replace his Assistant Director to ensure the smooth daily running of the Sub-Directorate in the absence of the latter. 6) The incumbent can be asked by his hierarchy to perform any task related to the relevant area, or the Sub-Directorate’s mandate, in order to ensure the Organization can continuously provide efficient support to its Member States’ Law enforcement agencies. Requirements All candidates will be assessed on the under mentioned requirements. Experience/ Education • Experienced police officer, or official able to demonstrate equivalent professional experience/training in the sector of police /law enforcement agencies. Languages • Professional fluency in English. Specific skills • Ability to adapt to an international environment. In addition to the requirements, the following Assets and Special Aptitudes would be beneficial. • Experience in staff supervision is highly desirable Working Conditions
• The incumbent will be occasionally required to work irregular hours or overtime based upon workload. • This post requires occasional travel on missions, sometimes of a long duration and at a short notice.
