American Society of Clinical Oncology Web Content Editor

ASCO is seeking an online editor with content management system (CMS) experience. The successful candidate will be a creative thinker who can build relationships across departments to meet internal stakeholders' needs for content updates, rewrite and recommend content enhancements, and provide input to improve structural and navigational page elements. The Web Content Editor provides content management training to new staff and ongoing support to ensure best practices, and is responsible for creating and managing digital content, ensuring the content is compelling and consistent across websites. An interest in cancer care and cancer science is a plus. Editing and writing is required in this role.

Success in this position requires a detail-oriented individual with the ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment where shifting priorities are common.
Requirements
  • Demonstrated experience with websites, web design and web technology (i.e., RSS)
  • Proven CMS experience (knowledge of Drupal a plus)
  • Understanding of best practices for usability and website information architecture
  • Ability to stay informed of digital trends, and proactively recommend site improvement opportunities
  • Participate in metric gathering and analysis, especially as pertains to content performance
  • Work with development team to test new features and troubleshoot technology issues as needed
  • Complete research requests and contribute to other projects as requested
  • Basic understanding of HTML
  • Ability to work across multiple platforms
  • Search engine optimization (SEO) is a plus
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Must excel at time management
  • Attention-to-detail and problem-solving skills are a must
  • Excellent writing and communication skills
Qualifications
  • 2-6 years of job-related experience in the management of digital content
  • Bachelor's degree in Communications, Journalism, Computer Science, or related field
