Purpose and Overview
Our global infrastructure and transport sector is focused on
providing the highest quality legal advice to the companies, governments
and investors involved in the construction, operation and acquisition
of infrastructure and transport assets. We act for a range of clients
including constructors, operators, financiers, regulators, governments
and the infrastructure funds that invest in these sectors.
The sector groups co-ordinate on an international basis the firm's
relationship management and business development efforts towards its
priority clients/targets in their respective industry sectors.
Sector business development and coordination, business planning and review:
- Work with partnership to devise new products and marketing
initiatives appropriate for the sector and lead on the execution of
these projects
- Work with sub-sector group (Aviation & Airports, Defence,
Ports & Shipping, Post & Logistics, Public Sector, Rail, Road
& Infrastructure and Water & Waste) to develop strategy,
identify targets and agree client development and market objectives,
along with monitoring delivery of those objectives
- Assist the SGLs with sector projects such as the annual sector
business plan, sector conferences and regular updates to sector partners
- Work with the Relationship Partners for sector clients to continually identify new opportunities and areas of potential growth
- Monitor financial performance of sector, sub-sectors and key clients
- Act as central knowledge resource for, and advocate of, the
firm's strategy, clients and the expertise in the sector. Draft and
coordinate internal communication of the sector strategy, initiatives,
financial performance and successes on a regular basis
Pitching:
- Lead major sector pitches
- Support client targeting efforts of the firm's international
offices by consulting on key local pitches and assisting with the
tailoring of key sector messages
- Maintain sector focused marketing data for use in pitches and business development
Current / market awareness and analysis:
- Prepare and support communication of our sector practice to the
market, contribute to improving the external visibility of our practice
- Monitor client and market developments (including new entrants
to the markets in which we operate) and delivering relevant and focused
information to the client teams via appropriate communication methods
- Conduct market and competitive analysis leveraging internal and external resources, where appropriate
- Conduct financial analysis of clients to identify and better
understand the source of revenue in line with our client's own
organisation/structure
- Assist SGLs and sub-sector leaders track fee deals across the sector and analyse profitability of work streams and clients
Relationship development (external):
- Working with the Relationship Partners and client teams to
assist with the planning of and preparation for external relationship
review meetings. Coordinating the production of reports for relationship
review discussions with the client on financial performance and value
added services
- Assisting relationship partners and the SGLs when seeking client
feedback for major transactions/cases and implementing recommendations
Relationship development (internal):
- Support and advise other practise/sector groups, regions and
offices on their initiatives to target sector clients. Facilitate
communication on appropriate initiatives to sector partners and
relationship partners worldwide
- Identify and track cross-selling opportunities for other practice/sector groups, regions and offices
- Support SGLs and sub-sector group teams in relation to conflicts and mandate acceptance decisions
People management:
- Direct line management of Business Development Executive
- Proven experience in a professional services or financial sector setting
- Proven organisational skills and attention to detail
- Hands-on approach
- Strong written and presentation skills
- Ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines
- Excellent experience of windows-based packages such as Word, Excel and PowerPoint
- Experience of working in an international business
