Commissioning Researcher

Grade Equivalence : Grade 4/5

Accountability : Director of Research

Job Purpose:

The commissioning researcher will ensure that the programme’s research output is extended by overseeing any staff researchers and contracting external associates and institutions to support the agenda of the programme. S/he will be responsible for quality control of all research outputs of the programme.

Performance Areas:

1. Analysis & Research

1.1 Assist and support the programme in the conceptualising of the research to be conducted 

1.2 Establish a work programme combining internal and external resources to ensure that the research agenda is maintained 

1.3 Commission and manage all research 

1.4 Ensure quality of all research outputs and related electronic and hard publications 

2. Dissemination & Advocacy

2.1 Assist the programme in developing an advocacy and dissemination workplan

2.2 Ensure the alignment of research workplans and outputs with the advocacy and dissemination calendar

3. Methodological development

3.1 Ensure that the programme makes use of the best available quantitative and qualitative methods and technologies 

3.2 Collaborate in the personal development of all those inside and outside the programme working on the research agenda 

Scope of the job

• National - within the parameters set by the Board 

• Assists the Director of Research in developing the Programme team and overseeing their work 

• Able to make publication decisions on behalf of the programme in consultation with the Director of Research 

Limits of authority

• Authority limits will be determined from time to time by the Director of Research 

The Commissioning Researcher will maintain a research specialisation appropriate to the mission of the Programme.
