Mechanical Engineer Manufacturing Technology


This position is meant to provide technical leadership and support for the operation, maintenance and continuous improvement of mechanical equipment within DC&F, including static equipment, rotating and reciprocating machinery systems and equipment to handle fine powders and solids.
Champion and implement improvements in systems capabilities that will increase the ability to meet customer requirements and improve business competitiveness, using Six Sigma methodology as applicable.
Work closely with the line leadership, technical/manufacturing resources, operators and mechanics to understand the business needs and user needs and priorities (voice of the customer).

Provide mechanical and machinery type support and services for the manufacturing areas in various technologies in support of top line growth, asset effectiveness improvement programs and capital projects.
Apply engineering principles and knowledge to support the development, implementation, commissioning and validation of the successful operation of applications and solutions.

Qualifications

 
Qualifications
  • Bachelor or Master Degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent.
  • Hands-on industrial experience, preferably (petro)chemical or pharmaceutical industry.
  • Good working and application knowledge of international Codes & Standards (API, ASME, PED and ATEX) for machinery, machinery systems, materials and relevant industry practices.
  • Excellent trouble shooting and problem solving skills are required.
  • Demonstrated technical leadership skills and strengths in getting results.
  • Willingness to explore new technologies and drive continuous improvement.
  • Ambition to develop a professional career.
  • Certified Six Sigma Black Belt or Green Belt preferred or willingness to get trained and certified.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communications, organizational/planning skills to allow productive, collaborative relationships within the technology team and with many functions across the business.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and a high volume workload with shifting and competing priorities.

Responsibilities
  • Monitoring performance of process equipment, including static, rotating and machinery type, closely co-operating with reliability engineer, materials engineer and internal quality control.
  • Optimization and improvement of process equipment of the various production units.
  • Design and selection of new process equipment hereby closely co-operating with the other disciplines, including technology, E&I, maintenance and operations.
  • Design, fabrication and testing of mainly non-standard equipment by in house research and development shop, starting at pilot scale and supporting full scale implementation.
  • Sisterplant technology exchange based upon plant specific know how and expertise.
  • Serve on capital projects to provide basic data and mechanical and machinery type expertise.
  • Initiate and implement mechanical initiatives which support process safety and reliability, environmental performance, asset productivity, business cost and revenue growth goals.
The person involved needs to participate as a member of a larger technical organization to provide process assistance to operations as unit needs dictate.
Other roles include providing unit support for continuing safety, environmental performance such as Process Hazard Analysis and other Process Safety Management support, and participation in area productivity and quality improvement teams.
