Medicines for Malaria Venture Director, Product Management, Global Access

Medicines for Malaria Venture (MMV) was founded in 1999 as a not-for-profit research and development organization. MMV’s mission is to reduce the burden of malaria in disease-endemic countries by discovering, developing and facilitating delivery of new, effective and affordable antimalarial drugs. MMV’s commitment to Access & Delivery is driven by the need to ensure that the products we develop have maximum impact on those patients who need them most.
MMV’s Access & Delivery priorities are to:
 ·          Gather/generate market intelligence to inform MMV Research and Development on unmet needs for malaria treatments and support decision-making
·          Work with partners to develop market introduction strategies that maximize the public health impact of new antimalarial medications
·          Support the introduction of new products in malaria-endemic countries in line with WHO treatment recommendations
Since 2009, MMV and various pharmaceutical partners have:
 · launched the most widely used child-friendly medicine for the treatment of malaria
· secured WHO prequalification for the most effective treatment for severe malaria
· introduced two new Artemisinin Combination Therapies (ACTs) after successful regulatory submissions to  the European Medicines Authority
