Capacity4dev is looking for a Senior Editor/Audio visual specialist
An exciting opportunity for a Web journalist with minimum ten year’s experience in media, communication and knowledge sharing. Must have sound knowledge of development issues, plus experience in developing countries.

We’re looking for an energetic and dynamic individual to join our team to provide knowledge management support and strategic vision, in the interests of capacity development.

This is a consultant position contracted through ADE for the PPCM programme in support of EuropeAid Unit B1. Current allocation is 3 days per week or up to 132 days over a 12 month period (renewable for one more year), based in Brussels.

Capacity4dev.eu is the leading knowledge sharing platform on development of the European Commission. The European Commission is implementing an aid and development cooperation budget of over EUR 8 billion per year.

Capacity4dev.eu is designed as an online resource for sharing information on development issues. Its overall objective is to improve the quality of aid and better contribute to the development of capacities.
The targets of the platform are to:
  • Promote the quality of aid, good practice and capacity development
  • Enhance the capacities of EU staff and the development community:
- Support institutional memory and the consolidation of knowledge
- Support thematic expertise networks, silo breaking and collaboration
- Facilitate the synergies between internal and external expertise
Main Duties:
  • Concept, production and online publishing of Voices & Views and pubic page content of the website, including edited video (‘Voices & Views’ are to be designed as knowledge/capacity development pieces. They are not news items or for visibility/communication purposes)
  • Website content management and refreshing
  • Responsibility for overall content ‘look’ of the site
  • Strategise the Content Planning Schedule
  • Develop Marketing strategy and action plan
  • Generate monthly Newsletter
  • Drive and invigorate, monitorand support group activity
  • Liaise and coordinate approvals for all of the above*
*This is a key function of the post
Other general duties
  • Liase with the Core Editorial team
  • Conduct trainings
  • Write strategy documents as required
  • Monitor and evaluate progress through Quarterly Reports
  • Consult on website development and direction
Skills Required
  • Journalist/ media and knowledge management/communications background with specific audio visual and editing skills (Adobe Premiere Pro or FCP).
  • Communications Strategy development and implementation experience
  • Experience of development issues or working in a developing country environment.
  • Knowledge of EU stakes and framework.
  • Experience of web content and social media management including community management and social media (Twitter, Facebook etc. )
  • Excellent written English
