IFES seeks a professional,
motivated team player for the position of Business Development Analyst.
The Analyst assists the Strategic Business Development Director in the
management of the business development function within IFES, principally
in the area of proposal development in support IFES’ programs and its
goal of donor diversification. The Analyst will assist the Director in the refinement and management of the proposal process within IFES, including the sourcing/analysis and tracking of opportunities and the development/submission of proposals to the US Government, other bilateral and multilateral donors such as DFID and CIDA, the UN, European Union, multilateral development banks, as well as foundations and private sector donors. The Analyst will assist the Director in enabling programmatic prepositioning and technical proposal development for new business opportunities. Such involvement may include but is not limited to: o Tracking potential projects of interest o Supporting /gathering of pre-bid intelligence o Identification (in coordination with HR and others) of relevant expertise for proposal development and review o Identification of successful projects/past performance and development of documentation for use in proposals/concept papers. |

Job Responsibilities: | |||||||||||
• Support the operations of the Business Development unit; • Establish and maintain positive working relationships with donors and partners, as well as IFES staff; • In coordination with the Director, establish and/or enhance the Unit’s operational procedures and policies for development and proposal process/management; • Coordinate the overall proposal process, including setting up and leading kickoff and review meetings, establishing the proposal calendar, and ensuring adherence to deadlines; • Participate in proposal development and writing as appropriate and needed; • Work with the Contracts & Grants team as well as the program, HR, finance and communications staffs in formulating strong, competitive and compliant proposals; • Assist in establishing and maintaining communications with prime and sub-contractors to ensure the smooth working of the proposal process; • In the absence of the Director, lead IFES-wide development meetings |

Qualifications: | |||||||||||
• Bachelor’s degree, preferably in business, international relations, political science, or related field; • Minimum of 4 years of experience in international development with an NGO and/or for-profit – preferably in the Democracy and Governance sector; • USAID, Dept. of State, and other international development donor experience; • Previous experience with proposal coordination and production required; • Familiarity with the “Shipley” proposal methodology highly desirable; • Membership/involvement in the Association of Proposal Management Professionals (APMP) preferred; • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Excel required; • Strong analytical, written and verbal communication skills; • Proven organizational skills and a capacity to handle multiple tasks under tight deadlines; • Highly motivated and self-directed; • Team player with excellent interpersonal skills; • Foreign language skills desirable. |
