World Vision US Broker, Public-Private Partnerships

As the Public-Private Partnerships Broker, you’ll contribute to World Vision U.S. International Programs overall resource targets by leading efforts to broker high-value partnerships with local and multinational companies in conjunction with multi-sector grants from US government agencies and selected foundations. Lead private sector partner identification. In collaboration with national offices, WVUS Corporate Development representatives and WVUS Design and Development Officers, undertake corporate relationship building and negotiate the terms of partnerships. Monitor effectiveness of corporate collaborations. Communicate World Vision’s Christian ethos and demonstrate a quality of spiritual life that is an example to others.

Partnership Development:

• Identify potential industries and companies that have investments and resources that align with sectoral and national office (NO) priorities.
• Respond to corporate offers and requests forwarded by WVUS Corporate Development.
• Contribute to development strategies for high-value, innovative private sector partnerships and target 5-7 NO’s each year to build relationships with local and international private sector entities.
• Represent World Vision and facilitate discussions with the private sector, usually in conjunction with National Office or WVUS colleagues, to yield top-rate collaborations.
• Facilitate clarification of goals in a partnership and assure strong operations and likelihood of success in a given partnership.
• Identify priorities and steps to advance mutually productive, equitable, trust-based relationships.
• Involve technical experts, WV senior management and Corporate Development representatives to assure flourishing partnerships.
• Assure partner vetting, working closely with the Global Centre, NOs and the WVUS Key Partnerships group.
• Collaborate with Vendor Contract Service staff to assure partnership agreements and partnership governance models reflect the priorities of end beneficiaries, WV and other priority stakeholders.

Resource Acquisition:

• Lead and support National Office and WVUS Design and Development Officers (DDO) in designing programs that leverage unique, high value contributions of local and multinational companies.
• Lead pursuit of innovation and unique value, contributing to child well-being and related outcomes.
• Work closely with DDOs to write proposal sections (approximately 7-8 per year) describing private sector involvement in a given project.
• Obtain letters of intent and support from private sector entities for new proposals.
• Represent WV to USAID Mission representatives for Global Development Alliances.
• Obtain intelligence regarding priority private sector directions and opportunities per the US Government and the Gates Foundation.
• Assure clear partnership or collaboration monitoring systems are incorporated into project design.

Cross-Functional Communication:

Assure stakeholders have information essential to advancing clear communication and coordinated action in a complex organization. Assure clarity of communication with other WV colleagues as well as corporate representatives.

Capacity Building:

• Coach targeted NO personnel in building and maintaining mutually beneficial, equitable, trust-based relationships.
• Facilitate clarification of goals in a partnership and assure strong operations and likelihood of success in a given partnership.
• Take measures to enable partners to self-manage the relationship and operations of the partnership.
• Assure effective hand-over of relationships and partnership management to NO staff and Corporate Development representatives.
• Assist NOs/DDOs in building additional private sector broker positions into grant applications.

Work collaboratively with team members when assigned to work as part of a team.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Attend and participate in the leadership of daily devotions and weekly Chapel services.

Required experience:

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent required.
• A minimum of five years of experience including the following: living or working in a developing country, preferably working across regions; experience working in international relief or development; and/or experience working in the private sector, preferably for a major corporation or as an entrepreneur.
• New business development, alliance management, CSR or sustainability and/or marketing experience preferred.
• Must have proven track record in brokering cross sectoral partnerships between NGOs and the private sector.
