Assistant to Co-ordinator for Social Dialogue and Working Conditions

The ETUCE wishes to recruit a programme assistant for a full time position on a one year fixed-term contract starting in January 2014 at the latest. The position is available in the secretariat based in Brussels. Full details regarding the job description and the function requirements may be found below. Qualifications:

  • Experience and knowledge of Social Dialogue structures at national and EU level in the education sector;
  • Needs to be familiar with the relevant and recent EU legislation and publications regarding education, employment and working conditions, such as the EU 2020 process and its flagship initiatives;
  • Having knowledge about the development of the current economic crisis in Europe;
  • Experience with project work and EU project applications;
  • Good at planning and organising;
  • Good at accurately recording motivational action points with clarity;
  • Good team working skills;
  • Sound knowledge of the English language and good French, Spanish or Russian language skills.

Areas to cover:

1. Economic Crisis:

  • Assist in the implementation of the ETUCE work programme priorities on the Crisis;
  • Following-up on latest developments at the EC (DG EMPL/DG EAC), EP, FRA, Council of Europe, ETUC and other social partners and civil society organisations;
  • Liaise with EI concerning the global campaign “Unite for Quality Education”;
  • Assisting in implementing the ETUCE project on Quality in Education during the Crisis;
  • Representing ETUCE at external meetings on Crisis related issues;
  • Assist the smooth and timely co-ordination of the Quality in Education during the crisis project 2013/2014 (event and meeting organisations, research organisation, overviewing the internal and external reporting and dissemination of project results);
  • Follow-up on the Alter Summit relations as well as other partner organisation activities.

2. Project Application, Implementation and Reporting:

  • Following up on the latest developments concerning new calls for proposals from EC and European foundations in the appropriate area;
  • Assisting the Coordinator for Social Dialogue and Working Conditions in the preparation and writing of project applications;
  • Assisting in implementing and reporting current project activities.

3. Miscellaneous:

  • Participating in the Structural Dialogue meetings on Crisis related issues;
  • Prepare articles and news items for the ETUCE Newsletter and website.
