Technical Assistant in Logistics and Communications

We are seeking a Spanish speaker who is open-minded, organized and able to handle multiple logistics, administration and communications tasks simultaneously. The person will join a multidisciplinary team working on projects to train journalists and promote the right of expression and information in Latin America.
This is a part-time post, 20 hours a week, by agreement Monday to Friday.
There will be a trial period of 30 days.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The Technical Assistant 's main task is to assist the Director of Projects in Latin America to ensure the proper functioning of all active projects. Tasks will vary, but are likely to include the following:
Logistics Functions:
  • Arranging travel (flights, hotels ) for journalists and team members;
  • Purchasing equipment and office maintenance;
  • Maintaining project databases (contacts, monitoring and evaluation, etc.).
Administrative Functions:
  • Supporting the director with the transparent management of project funds , bank accounts, price comparisons, payments and financial reports.
Communication functions:
  • Helping manage our social network presence (Twitter, Facebook) and other social media initiatives;
  • Assisting with the generation of a weekly summary of news for Latin America;
  • Disseminating articles written by journalists in Latin America and promoting publication in international media.
PERSONAL QUALITIES
  • Great organizational skills;
  • Communication and writing skills;
  • Knowledge of office (Word, Excel and others) and a willingness to learn to use other operating and digital security systems;.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team;
  • Ability to coordinate multiple tasks and meet deadlines;
  • Cultural sensitivity;
  • Highly-motivated and results-oriented;
  • Willingness to adapt to security measures needed to work in the region.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • University/college studies required;
  • Work experience highly desirable, but the skills and motivation to learn and carry out the work are even more important.
  • Fluent Spanish is essential; a good command of English would be an asset.
