Research Evaluation Analyst

RSSB is a not-for-profit company owned by its members, who are the major stakeholders in the mainline rail industry. RSSB has over £9m per annum to spend on R&D on behalf of the rail industry.  To optimise and inform the use of this funding we have developed in the past few years an evaluation capability to improve the assessment of research proposals, the prioritisation across the portfolio, and the review of the value generated by completed research.
Purpose of the role
We are seeking a highly motivated, dynamic and influential individual with a strong analytical background. You will join our Research and Development Team in London, providing structured thinking into the development of research projects aimed at enabling step improvements in the performance of the railway.
You will have a good grounding in business case development including quantitative economic appraisal techniques.  Excellent communication skills are key to obtaining information input from project team members and industry stakeholders, and to writing logical business cases. Delivery focussed, you are able to quickly develop a sound appreciation of complex technical information in subject areas ranging from engineering to human factors to sustainable development. A degree in a numerical discipline such as economics, operational research, science or related discipline is essential, and experience within the railway industry or transport economics would be an advantage.
Financially literate, you will liaise with finance professionals within the company to analyse and report on the health of the whole research portfolio, driving strategic decisions on funding priorities.
Benefits
RSSB offers a very competitive salary and bonus scheme as well as private healthcare, dental care and a final salary pension scheme.
