Role Summary

The role-holder will act as a lynchpin between fee-earners and MBD in collating deal information across the Corporate Practice Group worldwide and externally with data vendors such as Mergermarket, Thomson Reuters and Bloomberg and others to ensure the Corporate Practice Group is fairly represented in directories, league table rankings and awards. The role will require extensive use of the firm’s information and marketing systems. 

Key Responsibilities

Deal capture:
  • League tables: Capture and input global M&A, Equity and Debt Capital Markets transactional data into excel spreadsheet and firm’s internal deal/experience database. Create consistent wording for deals. Proactively researching external publications to capture deal information and validating internally where necessary.
  • Main liaison contact with external data vendors (Mergermarket, Thomson Reuters, Bloomberg and others) to ensure all transactional data is reported and validated. Resolve discrepancies and challenge data vendors on accreditation criteria where necessary.
  • Maintain and update content and experience lists of the Corporate Practice Group’s marketing documents and intranet on a regular basis including update of league table documents highlighting the firm’s rankings.
  • Report back to the business on our position globally in relation to league tables and trends in any of the above product areas. This also includes monitoring competitor activity and rankings.
  • Experience collection: maintaining a central corporate experience resource, verifying descriptions and supporting information with relevant partners/associates, and recording onto the relevant experience databases. Preparation and maintenance of the most frequently used experience lists. 
Communication/networking:
  • Actively communicating with BD Managers and other Executives, Researchers/LIS roles, KML/As across other Practice Groups, offices and regions to exchange transactional data.
  • Communicating with external data vendors (Mergermarket, Thomson Reuters, Bloomberg and others) to ensure all transactional data is reported, validated and discrepancies are resolved. 

Requirements

  • Experience in internal and external content, research tools and databases.
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal) with confidence and ability to deal with partners, senior lawyers and staff at all levels.
  • Proven organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines.
  • Ability to handle several projects at one time and to prioritise workload. 
  • Team player – reliable, flexible, helpful and willing to work beyond contracted hours.
  • Energetic and outgoing personality.

The Individual

Essential
  • Excellent systems and database skills including experience of windows-based packages such as Word, Excel and PowerPoint. 
Desirable
  • Experience of working with or in a data vendor research firm or in a legal, professional services firm
  • Experience of working in an international business.
  • Relevant business/marketing qualification.
  • Proven delivery record and experience of working with management.
