Organizational Context:
The EPM Project Manager is located in the ERP Project Management Office (EPMO) and plays a key role in the planning, coordination, management and administration of activities related to the implementation of the EPM stream under the ERP.
The EPM Project Manager ensures the optimal use of the project resources and provides a link between the project, the business and ICT. Substantively, the EPM Project Manager is responsible for the delivery of applications in 2014, integrated with the larger ERP system, that will support annual work planning, implementation and monitoring and performance assessment processes.
The role is performed in close cooperation with the PeopleSoft HR Project Manager, the Business Solution Architect and the ERP Portfolio Coordinator and reports to the Acting Head EPMO.
Main duties:
The incumbent performs the following main duties:
(a) Manage the delivery of the EPM project milestones for 2014 through requirements gathering, design, development and deployment stages within the planned project timeframe and approved budget and identify and implement approved cost-effective resourcing strategies;
(b) Ensure, in consultation with senior colleagues, that appropriate control mechanisms are designed and in place, including risk management and quality assurance;
(c) Manage and monitor work performed by external suppliers and ensure, together with the Procurement and Travel Division, that contractual obligations are respected;
(d) Lead and motivate the project team and ensure behavioural expectations of team members are established;
(e) Manage the information flows within the project to ensure progress is accurately reported, timely decision making achieved and approval of key deliverables is obtained;
(f) Communicate on the progress of the EPM project and achievement of business benefits across the Organization. Develop rapport with key stakeholders and foster productive relationships;
(g) Support the Project Board in managing the business case and realizing the business benefits. Authorize work within the authority delegated by the Board, communicate any potential deviations and introduce corrective actions as and when required;
(h) Ensure solutions are comprehensively tested, users adequately trained, agreed quality standards attained, defined benefits are achieved and lessons learned captured, as part of the transition of the project to the supporting entity when complete;
(i) Perform other duties in any of the above areas as required.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
Advanced university degree in Information Technology, Business Management or related discipline. A first-level university degree plus two years of relevant experience in addition to the experience requested below may be accepted in lieu of an advanced university degree.
Certification in a recognized project management methodology, such as PRINCE2, PMP.
Certification in ITIL an advantage.
Experience:
At least 12 years' experience with ICT-related and/or change management projects of which at least six years must have been gained managing ICT projects in an international setting.
Experience with successfully managing change and risks in a large organization.
Relevant professional experience within the UN common system an advantage.
Skills:
Sound understanding of international/public sector organizations and knowledge of best practice in administration and management of public sector institutions.
Understanding of Program and Results-based management as applied in the public sector.
Proven ability to assess risks and design suitable mitigation plans.
Knowledge of change management.
Excellent managerial and leadership skills and demonstrable track record of successfully managing and motivating diverse projects teams comprising of internal and external resources providing a mixture of functional, technical and business skills.
Sound judgement and good interpersonal skills and communication skills, with the ability to establish and maintain effective partnerships and working relations in a multi-cultural, multi-ethnic environment with sensibility and respect for diversity.
Languages:
Excellent knowledge of English.
Knowledge of French an advantage.
Annual salary:
(Net of tax)
80,734 USD
86,904 USD (with primary dependants)
Post adjustment:
106.3 % of the above figure(s). This percentage is to be considered as indicative since variations may occur each month either upwards or downwards due to currency exchange rate fluctuations or inflation.
Additional Information:
  • Salaries and allowances are paid in Swiss francs at the official rate of exchange of the United Nations.
-Please note that the salary is composed of the base salary (indicated above as 'Annual/Monthly Salary') + the post adjustment. The post adjustment is designed to compensate the differences in living costs, thereby providing the staff with the same purchasing power at all duty stations. It is expressed as a percentage of the base salary.
