Foundation Overview
Guided by the belief that every life has equal value, the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation works to help all people lead healthy, productive lives. In developing countries, it focuses on improving people's health and giving them the chance to lift themselves out of hunger and extreme poverty. In the United States, it seeks to ensure that all people-especially those with the fewest resources-have access to the opportunities they need to succeed in school and life. Based in Seattle, the foundation is led by CEO Jeff Raikes and co-chair William H. Gates Sr., under the direction of Bill and Melinda Gates and Warren Buffett.

Group Summary
The Finance & Strategy group is responsible for implementing and maintaining operating procedures designed to ensure rigorous stewardship of the foundation's financial resources and maximize the return on the foundation's grant-making and other charitable investments. The Finance & Strategy group serves the foundation's four programmatic Divisions – Global Health, Global Development, Global Policy & Advocacy, and US Programs.
The Financial Planning & Analysis team (FP&A) is the extension of Finance & Strategy group embedded in each of the programmatic Divisions. We provide financial and business acumen and analysis, working alongside program leadership and program officers, to plan and monitor use of funds for programmatic strategy execution.
The Global Health Division harnesses advances in science and technology to save lives in poor countries. We focus on the health problems that have a major impact in developing countries but get too little attention and funding. Where proven tools exist, we support sustainable ways to improve their delivery. Where they don't, we invest in research and development of new interventions, such as vaccines, drugs, and diagnostics. Our work to fight and prevent infectious diseases is organized around on six Program Strategy Teams (PSTs): HIV/AIDS, Malaria, Tuberculosis, Neglected & other Infectious Diseases, Enteric & Diarrheal Diseases, and Pneumonia. These Strategies are supported by functional teams that focus on Discovery & Translational Sciences, Vaccine Development, Integrated Development, Vaccine Delivery, and Integrated Delivery.
