Program Manager- Social Media | Social Action II Program
IREX seeks applicants for the position of Program Manager for its Social Media | Social Action II Program. The Social Media | Social Action Program II (SM|SA II) program will build on the experience and success of IREX’s earlier program which connected youth-focused NGOs across the Middle East region with technology tools useful for advancing their work and increasing civic participation. SM|SA II will be a pilot project designed to combine new technologies and traditional outreach tools in comprehensive good governance advocacy campaigns in Jordan.
The Program Manager will oversee all management, operational and program activities. S/he will oversee the IREX/Amman office and lead a small team of five program staff to provide assistance and training to civil society organizations on multi-stakeholder partnership strategies, expanding information access and accountability, raising citizen awareness, and robust advocacy approaches focused on good governance issues. Advocacy campaigns will incorporate targeted digital technologies as well as more traditional outreach tools, such as town halls, flyers, radio, and television.
Duties & Responsibilities
● Overall responsibility for coordination and implementation of program activities, including providing strategic guidance to staff and playing an integral role in the monitoring, evaluation and reporting of program activities as well as ensuring that program deliverables are being met
● Pursue options for new partnerships and activities within the program’s mandate
● Maintain effective relations and coordination with IREX/USA staff and program partners including subgrantees, contractors, government liaisons and the donor
● Recruit appropriate consultants and negotiate terms and scopes of work in accordance with IREX policies
● Support and ensure that the work of staff and consultant training activities and training curricula are of high standard and are meeting program objectives
● Ensure that all fiscal and performance activities are in compliance with IREX policies and procedures & USG regulations.
● Provide supervision, mentoring and guidance to program staff and oversee IREX staff support to sub grantee staff
Qualifications
● University degree in relevant field, masters preferred
● Minimum of 7 years’ experience in international development, preferably with some of that period focused on utilizing technology-based approaches to strengthening civic engagement
● Strong team leadership skills and ability create a productive working environment for staff
● Contextual understanding of the challenges and opportunities of strengthening advocacy skills of NGOs
● Superior writing, editing and oral presentation skills, evidenced by professional experience and success
● Strong organizational skills including ability to prioritize and multi-task
● Demonstrated program management experience; field management experience preferred
● Flexibility and enthusiasm for IREX programs
● Experience working in Jordan preferred
● Arabic skills strongly preferred
