Masters by Research for Chemistry & Chemical Engineering Graduates

The “Isolation and recovery of valuable materials from waste paint products” project is an exciting opportunity to undertake a 1 year funded, Masters by Research project - Using chemistry to create a "circular economy", working with a major industrial manufacturer.
An exciting opportunity for a graduate in chemistry or chemical engineering to undertake a funded 1 year Masters by Research degree. You will work in a partnership including a major industrial manufacturer which has built their business through an in depth understanding of polymer and inorganic chemistry. The aim is to find value in and use for surplus and waste paint and other materials including:
  • Rejected components of manufacture
  • Washings from polymer production
  • De-watered filter cake from water based manufacture
  • Old/surplus paint which is deemed unfit for secondary use.
The researcher will have access to the expertise and laboratories at Lancaster University, and via the manufacturer. A tax free stipend of £13724 is paid (equivalent to a salary of circa £18,000).
