Permanent Secretary for the Civil Service
The Fiji Public Service Commission is completing the recruitment and appointment of 20 Permanent Secretaries as part of the renewal of civil service for the Government of Fiji. Permanent Secretaries are heads of Government Ministries, responsible for the leadership and management of their Ministries and for policy support and advice.
The Permanent Secretary for the Civil Service is a new role established as part of this renewal. This role is responsible for the management and implementation of a range of cross-Ministry programs. These include the appointment and administration of Permanent Secretary group, oversight of the further implementation of civil service reform, and civil service training and development.
High quality candidates for the role will have high level executive leadership and management capabilities and experience in a significant civil service environment, with a demonstrated track record of leading reform programs. They will be able to personally contribute to shaping the strategic directions, policies and programs across the civil service. They will have demonstrable experience in dealing with complex issues, and the intellect and judgement to develop appropriate solutions. They will be effective communicators who build organisational capability with a culture of achievement and improvement. They will be strong relationship builders and influencers, who exemplify professionalism and integrity in personal behaviour.
