Better Places is a social enterprise based in Leiden, the Netherlands. We provide an online platform to help travelers design and book a personalized trip by connecting them directly with local agents in 32 countries outside of Europe. These local operators are tourism professionals with a passion for travel and people and a strong focus on responsible travel. Better Places is currently focusing on the Dutch and Belgian market. In Germany we operate under the name Fairaway. We plan to launch our English website in january 2017.
Our mission is to create Better Places to live in and Better Places to visit. It is our aim to create a more caring & responsible tourism industry.
Our USP's are: 100% tailormade trips, authentic encounters with locals and a strong focus on responsible travel. We are not only here to sell travels but also to help travelers discover new destinations. To do so we have a community of writers who are writing articles about places and destinations.
We work with a limited number of staff in our offices in The Netherlands and Germany. Most of the work is done at the destination. We are able to work in this way by making processes as efficient as possible and by working together with established partners, like Riksja Travel in The Netherlands and Erlebe Fernreisen in Germany. The selection, training and management of relationships with our local partners will mostly be done from our office in The Netherlands.
We are an entrepreneurial organization. Each staff member is master of his time and projects he's working on. Our key values? Freedom, Responsibility and Entrepreneurship.
