We have organized a Category Management model for our Direct Purchasing function within SMS and are now looking for a Global Category Manager to manage the category of Strategic Raw Materials. You area dynamic force behind the continual development of our model, and we offer you the opportunity to work with passionate colleagues in a truly global environment. The location for this position is flexible, but preferably close to one of SMS operations.
Job Summary
As a Global Category Manager you are responsible for developing, implementing and maintaining the strategic business plan and supplier base for your category, for the short and long term, where the aim is to be clear in both its objectives and activities. You lead the improvement work with support from your category team and in co-operation with our main stakeholders. You apply relevant tools from the Structure Approach to the Strategic Purchasing (SASP) process and its development, and you maintain the Supply Positioning and Customer Preferencing models for the category, in order to build the market management matrix. Ensuring correct usage of the Sandvik Category connected to Sandvik Spend and enabling a high-quality understanding of the spend is part of your responsibility, as is securing appropriate agreements for the category. You actively engage in communication with users and stakeholders, such as Product Management organizations, Supply Chain Planning and other key positions within SMS and the Product Areas.
Frequent travel is a natural part of this position.
Your profile
We are looking for someone with a degree in Technology or Business and five years’ experience in a commercial leadership role, as well as a genuine interest in, and experience of, supply chain set-ups. Experience from purchasing and procurement is advantageous, as is having well-developed negotiation skills from international environments, combined with broad technical knowledge. As we interact worldwide, your communication skills in English are excellent, both in writing and speaking, while skills in a second language, such as German, are beneficial.
