Operations are divided into four product areas: Tube, Strip, Wire and Heating Technology - and Primary Products.
Key performance area
For Sandvik’s Wire and Heating Technology product unit, the Quality, Health & Safety Manager will interfacewith raw materials suppliers, production, and customers to assure quality standards are being met. This position is responsible for maintaining and driving the operational controls of Sandvik’s QA program, and leading quality activities and systems to ensure program and policy compliance. Your proven track record at driving continuous improvement initiatives, including LEAN methods, is essential. You will lead quality programs and practices, and conduct internal audits to ensure quality standards are maintained. Further, the Quality Manager will manage Quality Inspector(s) and participate in root cause analysis, corrective action, and in the analysis of internal and vendor rejection data.
Additionally, the Quality, Health & Safety Manager will:
  • Maintain quality data, files and reporting
  • Investigate and resolve raw material supplier issues or supply constraints
  • Demonstrate a thorough understanding of statistical techniques and analyses
  • Develop employee training to ensure compliance with QA objectives and procedures
  • Create a safe work environment and be able to work in a physically challenging environment, including standing for long periods of time and wear proper PPE
  • Ensure compliance with all local, state & federal laws pertaining to our site and other related EPA matters
  • Develop and maintain knowledge of waste, generations, storage, transport, disposal, vendors, training and records
  • Act as liaison between local site and Sandvik Corporate policies related to Quality and Environmental Health and Safety
Your profile
The Quality Manager should possess a minimum of five (5) years in Quality Assurance/Quality Control. An Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree is preferred but not required and an ASQ Certification is a plus. Candidates should also have directly related experience in manufacturing / production in the metal working industry (Rolling / Slitting operations desired). A thorough understanding of MRP systems and statistical analysis are important. Candidates should be familiar with LEAN and ISO 9001 principles and standards. Kaizen, 5S, six sigma experience are a plus.
You should possess excellent leadership and communication skills – oral and written, be proficient in MS Office or Lotus Notes, and be able to foster a work environment that promotes teamwork. Additionally, you should have excellent prioritization and organization abilities. Previous supervisory and people management experience is highly preferred. Some travel may be required.
