Senior Finance Accountant – South Sudan

POSITION SUMMARY:
To implement financial reporting policies in line with the FFM, Partnership guidelines as well as provide internal management with up-to-date financial data and information necessary for decision-making. The position is expected to play a key role in establishment of appropriate accounting systems incorporating necessary internal controls.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Play a leading role in ensuring that all aspects of financial accounting and reporting comply with WVI internal reporting standards, GAAPs as well as donor requirements
• Ensure that World Vision policies and procedures regarding financial reporting are adhered to as per the Field Finance Manual (FFM) and Guidelines
• Manage and ensure the accuracy, relevance and integrity of the National Office financial databases on the Lotus Notes with specific reference to SA , FFR and Fixed Asset databases
• Prepare on quarterly basis, National office expenditure trend analysis and share the same with the management as well as any other analysis that may be necessary in assisting the management in decision-making
• Maintain the NO Sun systems ledger and ensure safety and integrity of the financial information as required by the Partnership
• Take a leading role in monthly FFR production and ensure that quarterly Core Project reports are submitted on time
• Co-ordinate and conduct in-house training on use of Sun Systems/Vision as the official accounting package among the finance staff based on identified need. Be actively involved in mentoring/coaching, supervision and capacity building of finance staff on financial reporting aspects
• Act as the National Office point person for LEAP accounting and maintain an active link with the Regional LEAP & Sun systems coordinator. Advise the management on any new reporting guidelines as may be required by the Partnership
• Provide an up-to-date analysis of the composition of the Balance Sheet accounts with particular attention to Account Payables and Account Receivables
• Participate in and respond to questions of a financial nature related to National office audit reviews and take an active role in implementation of such audit recommendations
• Assist the Grants Finance manager on matters related to setting up of relevant Internal Controls that are financial in nature ensuring that NO financial risks are mitigated as appropriate
• Reconcile account 300 on monthly basis and ensure that any and all reconciling items are cleared on a timely manner

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
REQUIRED:
• Degree in Business administration or accounting training in CPA, ACCA
• Must possess Sun Systems/Vision certification
• Familiarity with WVI accounting systems and practices including through knowledge of the chart of accounts is a must
• Requires knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles, a practical knowledge of financial systems and internal financial controls
• Proven practical hands-on experience with SUN systems, Ms- Word, and Ms-Excel is a must
• Must possess good communication skills
• Requires a minimum of 4 years working experience, WVI experience preferred
• Practical working knowledge of major donor regulations
