Team Leader – The Support to the Meat and Leather Industry Project - Nigeria

Team Leader position
GRM International seeks a full time senior manager with expertise in Making Markets Work for the Poor (M4P) and M&E who can take on the team leadership of the Project in Nigeria on a full time basis for at least two years. The Team Leader will be required to manage, supervise and coordinate intensive market development activities and train and mentor the project team in systemic approaches to market development. The Team Leader will also be required to establish project-wide monitoring systems and will be expected to coach and provide oversight of the Intervention Managers in the development and monitoring of the intervention-specific results chains.

Responsibilities will include:
• Strategic management of the Project, including articulation of Project vision and delivery of consistent progress towards that vision
• Lead the conceptualisation and design of project interventions
• Coach project staff on M4P methodologies
• Ensure robust M&E processes adopted using M4P principles including development and monitoring of detailed results chains
• Serve as intermediary between DFID/other donors and target beneficiaries of GEMS1
• Oversight of GEMS1 implementation team, including Project staff, short term advisors and partner organisations
The Team Leader should have the following qualifications:
• Experience working on private sector development projects globally and preferably in Nigeria or West Africa
• Experience in systemic approaches to market development and/or value-chain development. Understanding of the M4P approach or a keen willingness to learn is required
• Strong skills in operational and strategic management
• Proven track record of leveraging private investment and persuasive interaction at CEO level
• Excellent communication and networking skills
• Working knowledge of DFID and DFID programme management systems
• Demonstrated skills in results measurement
• Strong knowledge of the Nigerian environment (desirable)
• Strong knowledge of the red meat, poultry and leather industry (desirable)
• Proven track record leveraging programme funds to gain buy-in from other funding sources such as other donors, foundations, and private sector entities (desirable)
