The National Institutes of Health (NIH), in Bethesda, Maryland, invites applications for the position of Director, Center for Information Technology (CIT), NIH. This is a career Federal position in the Senior Executive Service. The Director, CIT, provides high-level vision, leadership, management, and coordination for the Center's information technology (IT) programs and services and its computational science program. The CIT Director serves as a key IT advisor to the NIH Chief Information Officer; directs strategies for CIT long-term objectives; manages and supports the modernization of a centrally-operated NIH IT infrastructure; provides overall direction and guidance for effective multipart continuity of operations and security programs for CIT-operated and managed central IT services; directs development of policies guiding the implementation, provision, and usage of CIT services, support, infrastructure, and operations; provides strategic management and leadership to CIT's divisions, offices, and laboratories; supports the NIH research mission by directing and ensuring the creation of high-performance, shared scientific computing systems, scientific software, and other services for intramural staff; provides direction and leadership for the development of computation techniques for biomedical applications; provides the strategic vision to oversee a computation science and engineering research and development program; applies expert business acumen to manage IT infrastructure and services on a cost-recovery basis; fosters and participates in ongoing research outreach and communications between CIT and its customers and collaborators; and serves on NIH and Department of Health and Human Services executive level committees, boards, and/or working groups that address scientific and administrative computing. This position will require eligibility for a TOP SECRET security clearance.
