Open Pit Mine Manager, Contracts (copper/cobalt)

Contract single status position in the mining sector in a remote and safe area of the Democratic Rep of the Congo.

Job Specification


· Salary up to $210000 per annum (tax free) depending on skills and experience plus benefits.
· Six day working week
· Single status position.
· Benefits: Bonus potential of 20%; Travel allowance (US$12-15K tax free); accommodation and meals provided; 84 days annual leave (total days off site); Medical; Group Benefits Scheme.


ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS
· Mining Engineering Degree
· Mine Managers Certificate of Competency
· 8+ years proven experience in open pit copper mining and or project engineering
· Be able to cope in a remote location
· Previous experience working as an expatriate, preferably in Africa will be a distinct advantage.
· French language skill an advantage
· Physically fit to handle long hours and demanding work schedule.
· Knowledge of exploration methods, reserve and resource estimation, mine design, production scheduling, equipment selection and maintenance development
· Attention to detail and analytical skills
· Knowledge of Mine Safety requirements & Open Pit Mining methods and procedures
· Awareness of influencing environmental factors
· Ability to work effectively as a team member with minimal supervision; superior communication and interpersonal skills
· Ability to assess for continuous improvement of the open pit mining operations with the ultimate goals of increasing production, reducing risk and reducing costs while also providing a mentorship role to the national staff.
· Full Clean Driving License


DUTIES:
· Main role is to manage all mining activities of the open pit, including maintenance, people, and production.
· Looking for people who have managed similar types of operations preferably in remote areas in (large open pit operations
· Plan, organize and direct daily operations,
· Advise senior management of daily/monthly activity
· Oversee analysis of data and information
· Recommend operational changes to ensure that production quotas and procedures are met
· Determine adequacy of personnel, equipment and technologies used for operations
· Prepare work schedules
