Johannesburg Water (Pty) Ltd was established in 2001 as a municipal entity wholly owned by the City of Johannesburg. It is a R3bn turnover company employing ± 2 400 people and its core purpose is to provide water and sanitation services to approximately 3,2 million people. Senior Engineer (Civil) Re-advertisement

The incumbent will provide guidance to the Civil Engineers/Technologist on project implementation and co-ordinate design, tendering and construction stages of a portfolio of projects.

Responsibilities: • Carry out the design of engineering works • Prepare contract documents, schedules of quantities and project planning programmes • Consult with other sections within the company • Supervise the carrying out of site investigations and survey work to ensure that they are completed adequately, accurately and on time • Ensure that the required engineering drawings are completed within time and cost targets • Advertise tenders for construction of projects and adjudicate the tenders • Manage the time and costs of projects, maintain a project management database and report these to the Manager • Appoint and manage consultants to carry out projects which cannot be completed in-house • Assist with the training and development of staff • Ensure that the computer hardware is maintained and that the software is kept up-to-date • Be an ambassador for the company.

Requirements: • BSc (Eng)/BEng/BTech (Eng) • 8 years' relevant experience of which 2 to 3 years must be in Project Management • PrTech Eng/PrEng • Knowledge of procurement processes in a public environment • Sound knowledge of Microsoft Office and CAD • Code 08 driver's licence.
