Scope of the Position

A. World Vision’s Child Health Campaign- In 2009, World Vision initiated a global Child Health Campaign, ‘Child Health Now’. The campaign aims to generate concrete policy commitments which will contribute toward the reduction of maternal and child mortality through policy focused advocacy and public mobilization. The Senior Policy Advisor, MCN will undertake research and write policy products for the Child Health Campaign. Research will center on identifying and developing policy recommendations to prevent maternal and child mortality focusing on WV’s evidence-based nutrition programming.
The Senior Policy Advisor, MCN, will also work closely with other health and nutrition policy advisors in regional and national offices, along with partner institutions, to support the international dimensions of the WV Child Health Now Campaign.

D. Emergency/Food Security policy response - provide recommendations & work with WVI on developing emergency and food & nutrition security & advocacy response – focusing on child rights to adequate nutrition.

The Senior Policy Advisor for MCN will work closely with other members of the NCOE and WVI policy advocacy teams to develop research projects and present resulting reports and other communications pieces (op eds, statements, letters) that highlight the situation of maternal and child’s nutrition and health in areas where World Vision works. Strong collaboration with World Vision Canada’s Nutrition Team, the Global Health Team and other internal partners will also be essential to ensure alignment with program and field based priorities.
