GAVI JOB DESCRIPTION:

Post title: Website Developer

Key results expected: • Ensure GAVI becomes more technically self-sufficient in management of its chosen content management system Ektron; • Ensure new website technical developments can be scheduled and completed to planned timescales; • Ensure the contents of GAVI's website are easily managed and updated by individual departments; • Support the Media & Communications team’s online initiatives.

Main duties/ Responsibilities Technical support and project management • Provide in-house technical support for GAVI's new web platform; • Ensure available online technologies (including social media channels) and GAVI's website are fully integrated into the online communications strategy; • Identify and implement new technical features to the website platform; • Maintain the non-automatically updated aspects of the website - including positioning of contents on homepage and elsewhere; • Prepare graphic files for the website using tools such as PhotoShop; • Develop systems to deliver dynamic content directly to GAVI's website, including connectivity with GAVI's Datawarehouse and reporting systems; • Set up and maintain a version controlled code repository (SVN).

In-house content administration • Liaise closely with GAVI IT and, as required, external contractors to ensure best practice maintenance of GAVI's web and database servers; • Assist GAVI teams (prior and post publishing rollout) to upload new website content; • Manage the decentralisation of GAVI's website content publishing - through fine-tuning the CMS from a usability perspective and overseeing training/support in the rollout; • Use basic editorial skills to check content/data and ensure consistency with information in official GAVI reports and publications.

Supplier management • Build a close relationship with Ektron’s maintenance team as well as the wider Ektron development community. • Liaise with external contracts, as required, to ensure 24/7 monitoring of website servers and performance Note: The essential functions listed in this section are not limited only to the tasks listed and may include other duties as assigned.

Qualifications: Academic: • Formal computer science/programming qualifications an advantage but experience and proven ability considered more important; • Completion of secondary school education.

Work experience: • Minimum 5 years of professional experience of managing a .NET enterprise-level website; • Experience of working as a member of a communications team and in a corporate environment considered an advantage; • Experience in website and social media trends and innovations an advantage.

Skills/competencies: • Highly competent in Microsoft .NET 3.5; • High familiarity with MS SQL; • Required knowledge also includes: XSLT/HTML/CSS/JS/ASP.NET; • Experience with developing for Ektron CMS400 considered an asset (8.x version of Ektron); • Knowledge of integration with SharePoint considered an asset; • Excellent IT skills, in particular Visual Studio and MS suite of development applications; • Experience in website analytics/trends and reporting of results with recommendations; • Good communication and negotiation skills, enthusiasm for building interest in the web and its potential at all organisational levels; • Excellent time-management skills a priority: able to oversee multiple tasks to completion inside tight deadlines; • Team player, yet equally able to work autonomously; • Integrity and principles-based work ethics; • Organized, thorough, detail oriented.

Languages: • Written and spoken fluency in English. • French is an asset.
