Futures Group has deep expertise in policy and advocacy, research and strategic information, health markets and private sector engagement, modeling and economic analysis, patient monitoring and management/HMIS, strategic consulting, and program management.

The USAID-funded Health Policy Project (HPP), led by Futures Group, aims to strengthen developing country national and sub-national policy, advocacy, and governance for strategic, equitable, and sustainable health programming. HPP helps build individual and institutional capacity, institutionalize achievements of past investments, and promote country ownership of programs and initiatives through evidence-informed policy and advocacy.

Position Summary

Futures Group is seeking a Country Director to provide oversight and management to HPP’s Jordan project, help implement project activities in Jordan, and collaborate with local public and private-sector partners and USAID/Amman.

Key Responsibilities

• Provides overall direction in the design, implementation, and monitoring of workplans and budgets for assigned technical activities related to reproductive health/family planning and population issues • Conceptualizes, provides leadership, and implements technical activities for advocacy, strategic planning, and data analysis • Collaborates with the Higher Population Council (HPC), USAID, and other local partners • Provides technical assistance, capacity-building, and knowledge transfer needs to key partners, particularly the HPC and other Government of Jordan organizations • Interacts with USAID/Amman, other donors, Cooperating Agencies, and other colleagues; makes presentations and represents the project at public and professional functions • Works with the HPP Jordan country leadership to design and implement strategic approaches to expand project activities • Responds to ad hoc technical requests from USAID and key partners • Oversees the work of two administrative staff and recruits consultants as needed

Qualifications

Education • Masters or equivalent or higher advanced degree in any of the following areas: public health, population studies, demography, social sciences, management, or law, with relevant post-graduate qualifications and/or experience, preferably with a focus on health and family planning.

Technical skills

• Experience in providing technical assistance for capacity building to governmental organizations, preferably in policy analysis and advocacy • 8–10 years’ experience in managing and implementing social development programs, preferably in reproductive health and in policy analysis, data analysis and/or advocacy • Proven ability to communicate effectively (written and oral) to various audiences • Well-developed presentation skills • Advanced negotiation and diplomatic skills • Fluency in Arabic and excellent spoken and written English

Travel • Willingness and ability to undertake national and some international travel

Physical Demands

• Regularly required to stand or sit, and move about the facility
