Project Engineer (Control and Instrumentation)

Context


  • The role is positioned in the Engineering team within Europe Supply. The overall purpose of this team is to deliver engineering projects to ensure continued production of whisky within Diageo. For this role this includes: –

  • Using specialist knowledge to deliver both discipline specific and multi-discipline capex projects to the correct technical specification.

  • Managing project spend and procurement activities efficiently.

  • Liasing with Site Management to ensure projects are fit for purpose and onsite work is well controlled.

  • Co-ordinating and managing contractors and other external resources.

  • The role holder will primarily support sites in the North of Scotland within the Malt Distilling division and as such there will be a requirement to travel. Occasionally, the role holder will be expected to deliver projects within other divisions of Diageo in Scotland.



Role

The purpose of the role is to manage capex engineering projects and budgets within ES and any non-recurring maintenance projects as required.
The role covers 33 sites throughout Scotland. As part of the Engineering team the role will work alongside the line management to support the delivery of the business plans within ES. Working with other members of the engineering team this role must ensure delivery of the overall business and strategic priorities for ES. The role has no direct line management responsibilities.

The role holder will be responsible for:

  1. Ensuring projects are delivered on time, within cost and to the expectations of the business.

  2. Using specialist and engineering knowledge to provide technical specifications and costs for capex projects.

  3. Liaise with external resources / contractors and deploy appropriate resources to ensure project delivery.

  4. Ensuring compliance with appropriate Health, Safety and Environmental standards.



Qualifications and experience required

This role will ideally suit a professional engineer qualified to Higher National or Degree level in an appropriate Engineering discipline or an experienced time served practitioner, who can demonstrate competence for the role based on previous or current experience. Knowledge of project management techniques and engineering related Health and Safety standards combined with working knowledge of Word, Excel and Projects for windows will be pre-requisites. The ability to engage, communicate, influence and interface effectively with a wide customer base covering a large geographical area is key. Concurrently there will be a need to understand the over arching business demands and prioritise accordingly.

Role Holder must hold a driving licence. Relocation may be considered.
